Changing the Name for phone extensions

leave a comment »

I learned something new today! One that is totally off from Web Design or Developent, and it has nothing to do with Computers.

We changed seating arrangements in the office today. But we kept the old phone extensions. So now I have a new extension number, but still the name is not changed to my name. It was labeled with the name of the guy who used to sit where the phone is.

Our phone is a Panasonic KX-T7630. And it is controlled by a PABX. I searched thru the internet about how to configure this. And I got it. 🙂

So here are the steps

1.) Press the “PROG” button. For our phones here its the first button on the left. The PROG label is not on the button but on the LCD.
2.) Then it will say “Program No”. Type ** (two asterisks)
3.) It will then ask for a password. Normally it is 1234, unless it is changed.
4.) Then press Next until you get to “Ext Name”
5.) Its a bit odd, but it asks for the EXt No., so I just typed in the same extension number.
6.) Then you press “Clear” then type the Name you want.
7.) Press Enter

Done 🙂

Please write your comments if this worked for you or not! Thanks!
