A friend of mine asked me to install Windows XP on her Vista-ready Toshiba laptop.
At first I encountered a couple of Blue Screens. However I was already able to fix it, by removing the SATA thingies. I will discuss later.
OK so I was in the part where I needed to put in the CD Key. Apparently the key that was written on the Windows XP CD that I was using was not correct!
I tried searching on the web, some keys, but it was not useful. Like the Magic Jelly Bean Key finder. I say it is not useful, coz I did not install it! lol 🙂
I have moved the rest of this entry to my new domain:
Congratulations to my friend Dwynn Trazo! One of his works, an editorial cartoon was published in the World Press Cartoon Sintra 2008.
More info here. http://wemakeclub.blogspot.com/2009/08/world-class-hero.html
I have worked with Dwynn from 2003 to 2004 in Bigfoot Global Solutions before. He was our supervisor for the Web Team. He is also my bandmate! He plays drums and bass, but he was eventually our bassist for MOOD. 🙂
Dwynn is now working for a leading newspaper publication here in Dubai. And yeah he was one of the guys who fetch me from the airport when I first got here. 🙂
Los Angeles: A law enforcement official has told The Associated Press that Michael Jackson’s death has been ruled a homicide caused by a mix of drugs meant to treat insomnia.
Forensic tests found the anesthetic propofol combined with at least two sedatives to kill Jackson, according to the official, who spoke on Monday on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released.

Based on those tests, the Los Angeles County Coroner has ruled the death a homicide, the official said.
The coroner’s homicide ruling does not necessarily mean a crime was committed…
Finally! I was able to empty my annoying Trash!
For months since I have my MacBook Pro downgraded to Tiger OS, I have this problem with my Trash. Some files dont get deleted, and everytime I try to “Empty Trash”, it keeps on saying some privileges are blah blah, and some files are not in use.
I have tried deleting while holding down Alt/Options key. I have tried by terminal, I have tried the Secure Empty Trash but all of these things did not work.
My files were from my Windows folder. This is because I have my machine on dual boot with WinXP using BootCamp.
Now for the solution.
I looked into the Trash, and right click on the “annoying” folder.
I got its directory location which is WIN/.Trashes , where WIN is my Windows HD partition.
So i logged on to my WinXP, and went to the folder
I dragged the .Trashes file, to the Recycle Bin (take note we are now on XP)
And then I emptied the Recycle Bin
I logged on to my Tiger OS X again, looked into Trash….. and it is gone! 🙂
Today August 22, 2009 is the start of the Islamic Ramadan for 2009. This usually ends at around the same date in preceeding month. During Ramadan our brothers in Islam faith will be observing particular activities. I used to think that “Ramadan” is only 2-3 days. I realized later that it was the Eid Al Fit’r which is celebrated “after” the Ramadan.
Days falling on Ramadan will be observed with prayers and fasting, and the breaking of the fast called Iftar. I am not a Muslim, but our of respect for our Muslim brothers, I follow certain rules that is to be observed during Ramadan. One of which is not to eat in public until the Iftar hours, (after the time for fasting).
Once again Ramadan Kareem! 🙂
I have been doing some Search Engine Optimization for sometime now and I know by practice what the two important things for a website to work. #1 is Content, and #2 is the Hits!
Content is still the King. Design attracts people, awes your users, but what makes them come back again and again is the content. But people wont often “re-read” something. Therefore it is important for a website to offer fresh content every so often. New content daily is required and expected for news sites, but for blog sites 1 in a day or two I think is fine.
That pretty much summarizes content. And I might be talking a bit more about adding content to your website/blog in the next days. But what I wanted to squeeze in next is the Hits! The number of visits you get from people in your website. Notice I used (!) every time I mention “hits”? Because there is a need for your website, blog or product to be heard.
A good product would serve no purpose if no one knows about it. No matter how you design your website, or how well and informative your content is, if people don’t get to see it, it will be of no use. Unless otherwise you want it to be personal.
How do we get hits or visits to our website? I often ask myself this one because I have been struggling to get visits to my blog sites as well as our other websites. Until I realized, and also with the help of some friends in the SEO and Search Marketing business how to gather an audience.
Do not take social websites for granted. They can be a good source of visitors. For example in my Twitter, I have posted a link, called a tweet “i have just launched a new blog about some of my artist friends. Check out the amazing Creole Cakes http://iamwhatido.wordpress.com/” And it attracted a good number of people coming in to my website.
I have posted in Facebook. And that is where I got most of my hits! Imagine, who would have thought that Facebook can be a source of site visitors. There are more tricks, how to get more people to view your link on Facebook other than your friends. I will discuss it some other time.
That is it for now. About site content and getting visitors! 🙂
