Last week I was able to successfully perform a surgery on my old mid-2007 macbook pro. I replaced the 120GB Fujitsu hard drive that it came with, with a 500 GB WD Scorpio.
I just followed all the steps from iFixit.com, basically removing all screws that get on the way. And slowly opened the top(keyboard) part and that’s it.
Before I swapped harddrives, I made sure to make the new HD a clone of my existing one. I used SuperDuper to make an exact bootable clone of my internal hardisk so that when I will swap them, I will no longer need to worry about installation and copying files.
Wow. Before the launch of the iPad some people pegged it at $1000 USD but the actual prices it came up with was way lower!
Steve Jobs said they have “ambitious” design and engineering targets and “agressive” with the price limitation.. (or something like that)
so there.. the price for the iPad starts at $499 USD for the 16 GB Wifi..
Check out www.apple.com, they have updated their site to include the newest product, the iPad
On another note, some people it is a “name FAIL”. I heard one women said that she’s not very comfortable saying the word “iPad” because it always reminds her of feminine pads! I thought It was going to be called an iSlate or simply Apple Tablet. But then again the “i” should be there for Jonathan Ives (maybe?)
The functions? we shall review it on a different post.. But it seems like it is just a bigger brother of an iphone.
It will be available worldwide in 60days. Based on last nights unveiling of the iPad.. what can you say about it?
Finally. It is settled. Apple releases a tablet. And it is called an iPad.
It functions like a very large iPhone! I am not sure how much it costs though, but it looks nice. Yes nice. But I am not sure if I need one though for all the things it can do..
It is being talked about everywhere in the internet. From my usual Gizmodo, Engadget, Macrumors, and other tech bloggin sites.. hell even PC World mentions it, and deemed it a “thing to beat” even though no one knows its functions are.
Today, Apple will release (or is said to release), the fabled Apple Tablet. Will it be called the iSlate? or simply Apple Tablet?
What is true though is a good number of people are waiting for it. Maybe not all will buy, but mostly just to know what the Cupertino company and Steve Jobs can deliver.
Microsoft was a disappointment at CES. They did not release a tablet-like product. They however showed products by other companies, like the one from Archos, and others that are running on Windows.
I guess where Apple gets the upperhand among other companies that build these products. Apple is good at making its software running on its own hardware.
An officemate of mine told me just days ago that my Macbook Pro looks so beautiful and modern. I smiled and agreed with her. Although mine was bought last July 2007. 😉
I have been wanting to buy an iMac for months now and then this news! Argh. My trusted Macbook Pro still works though. I named her “Melissa” 🙂 I can still do my tasks perfectly well with it. And yeah I just conquered Spain! – in Medieval Total War 2 that is 🙂
But an iMac would be really good in the my home-office. I feel lazy with the laptop on the table, I needed a desktop. Well a big part of it is my procrastination flu, but yeah an iMac would be plenty nice! 🙂
And yes I have read about it today, there is a new iMac. Rumored to be “slimmer” than the current one. It will lose the FWs, and will have an SD card slot. A quad core processor (sweet). And XEON.
There’s formal confirmation about this upgrade yet, only the ever famous “from sources familiar with the product”.
But I was thinking, I would not want it to have an SD card slot. I do not own an SD card, nor a camera that uses it. My old EOS350D uses a CF, and a I have a USB Card slot. I wonder if my friends who take photography as a serious hobby or a job want that feature though. How widely used is an SD card?
Last night I saw a singer promoting his album on a variety show on TV. And his album was not on CD but on an SD card.
Is it the way to the future? Looks like an ugly chip to me.
Could be an early gift for me.. Got this from Engadget

It’s back. The Quanta assembled Apple netbook rumor that kicked off in March with a Commercial Times report calling for a Wintek-supplied touchscreen has returned… with a fever. China Times has now stepped in with a claim of a 9.7-inch touchscreen netbook to debut in October. CT claims that Wintek, and Dynapack have all received orders direct from Apple while Foxconn (not Quanta) will be the main manufacturer. It’s still unclear whether the reported device takes on the traditional netbook form-factor, goes convertible like the T91, or is a 9.7-inch slate like a giant iPod touch. In fact, the Chinese-language report translated into English refers to it as “Apple’s netbook (or a “tablet” as many call it)” only adding to the confusion. Regardless, we find it hard to believe that Apple would just follow the industry trends here. Then again, Sony did announce the VAIO W after rebuking netbooks as a race to the bottom thus leaving Apple as the only major without a low-cost netbook in its portfolio. But $800, if true, prices whatever this is right out of netbook territory — ultra-portable anyone?
Still hoping things will get better with my “brain dead” macbook pro. It was a mid 2007 model. 15inch Sta. Rosa. I have read some articles from Apple that they are going to replace it for FREE, as they are giving 2 years warranty for such problems.
I just hope it gets back to me soon. 😦
